Yesterday Sune Gavnholt, ranked 136 in the world, qualified for the main draw. Today he was up against Finland's Ville Lang, who is number 33 in the world.

It was a very close beginning of the first set, in which non of the players were able to gain momentum of the game. Half way through the set Sune Gavnholt got hold of his game and managed to take a six point lead by 15 – 9. He controlled the rest of the set easily and won it by 21 – 12.

The second set was a close one as well, however, this time it was Ville Lang, who seemed to have the upper hand. Several times he took the lead, but time after time Sune Gavnholt fought back and put pressure on the Finn. Ville Lang kept his cool, though, and won the second set 21 – 17.

Sune Gavnholt got off to a good start in the third set, but he couldn't hold on to his lead. The Finn took charge of the game and was in front by 11 – 7 as they switched sides. The local Danish crowd favourite refused to give up. He turned the game around and ended up winning the third set 21 – 17 after which he fell to the ground celebrating his victory.
